Here are resources to use when picking a niche:
Go to the Cbank marketplace and see what kind of affiliate promotions are being offered. This might help you find new niches and if you end up in that niche you'll have an affiliate product to sell!
Go to website content and enter the wikipedia page URL here. Then click on the dropdown menu and allow it to show max CPC and ad positions. Then set your maximum cpc ~ 0.5 and see what you get. Check what the CPC is and how much advertiser competition is going on.
