Honest Ed’s Blog for Webmasters

Note: This about page is obsolete as it is ridiculous. You’d be better off reading my real about page to find out how this turned into an seo blog.

You’ll notice just about all of this site’s content is geared towards either blogs or forums. That is because I run both. I use this blog to share my experiences of e-business.

From Crappy MFA Site to Legit

Feb, 2007 - After cutting a record high check from Adsense from one of my forums, I stumbled upon the Rich Jerk ebook. This was literally the first make money online ebook I’d ever read. I realized that I could multiply my revenue by opening up several sites. Content? Just steal it off of ezine articles! Thus Best Ranking Sites was born. From said shameful conception, I posted a first year profit of -$37 on this site.

When did the turn around start? I started calculating finances of the year 2007 to see where I was earning and losing money. Many of my stealing content sites were performing very poorly, especially when hosting was factored in. I made the decision to scrap this site in January 2008.

So why are you still alive?

Well, as I started to create an Adsense journal an idea struck me–why not post my experiments online? I could post up all my website info on this site and cast away all the stolen articles. I do still keep all those articles in a separate category, both for a nostalgic effect and for SEO purposes.

How Honest are you?

Depends. Compared to the Pope? Not very. Compared to the rest of so called internet experts? Very. This name came from reading all those affiliate marketing reviews that give a rave overview of a product, when it was pretty obvious they never ever purchased them. Of course, at the end was their affiliate link.

I basically look at it this way: I try to give people the most honest reviews possible. I’m happy to make money–I still stick my affiliate link in there no matter how bad or good the review is–but my goal is to be as honest as possible. If you think about it, being honest will actually make me more money in the long run.

Being Honest = more money?!

Look at it like this: my RSS subscribers (ie. anyone who frequents my blog) will read my reviews. Let’s say I fake a great review and 10 people fall for it. I’ll be up approx. $400 right? Well let’s say I’m honest and only 5 people sign up–but those 5 people actually like the product. Those 5 will only make me $200, but now they’ll trust me. If they see another good review they might buy again, another $200 for me. And on and on and on….
